Friends with Heart
This year, The Parenting Network
incorporated the help of children in our annual appeal. Through the
month of October, children across the community, as young as age
three, decorated hearts with paint, marker, crayon, pencil, glitter,
and ink. These children included those using our Children’s Program
while their parents attended a parenting class, middle and high
school students who participated in our school-based prevention
programs, and children in the lives of our staff and volunteers.
Each heart is unique, as is each child. We estimate that over 100
children helped create more than 1,200 hearts for this project.

One unexpected benefit of this
project was the fun that was shared with the children as they
exercised their creative vision. The little ones tried different
color combinations with their scribbles while the older children
experimented with different ways of applying paint to paper. Having
children assist with this project actually created wonderful moments
of fun and opportunities for conversation with their parents and
caregivers. This is what The Parenting Network is about –
strengthening parenting for healthier families.
Please support The Parenting Network
today so that we can continue to provide critical child abuse
prevention services to families in our community.

The Parenting Network thanks Catral
Doyle Creative, Associated Bag, and Clark Graphics for their roles
in this project. We also thank all of the children and parents who
helped us create these beautiful hearts!
