Circle of Parents™
Sharing Ideas. Sharing Support.
A parenting support and enrichment group is a great place to share concerns, ideas and resources with parents who have similar experiences. You will tap into the group wisdom, access your own strength and discover ways to meet the challenges of parenting your children in today's world.

Groups are free and meet weekly throughout Milwaukee County. Professionally trained volunteers, under the supervision of agency staff, facilitate the groups. A Children's Program accompanies the group. Registration is required through our Parent Helpline. 414-671-0566.

Children's Program
Come play with us! The Parenting Network's Children's Program exists to make it easier for parents and caregivers to attend support groups and parenting classes. If childcare is provided at the site, it is available to all participants of these services.

Our nurturing childcare staff provides a safe environment for children (infants thru 12 years of age) in which to play and interact with other children. The children often encourage Mom and Dad to attend each week so they can go to their "group".

Parenting Education

Positive Parenting
:  Through handouts, discussions, videos and role-playing participants learn more about how to strengthen their families.  Topics covered over a 10-week period include:  communication skills, discipline issues, self-esteem, respect, handling stress and anger to name a few. This parent education program is on-going and participants can access it at anytime.  Those who are actively involved and attend 10 classes within a 16- week period receive a certificate of attendance. This program is free to participants.

Effective Black Parenting:  This nationally recognized parenting program focuses on the strengths of black families and helps participants to work from those strengths.  Though similar in many ways to our Positive Parenting classes, this program targets the uniqueness of the African-American community and families.  This 14-week program is offered three times a year.  This program is free to participants.

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent: Parents learn to share control, give children choices and help children to become more responsible as a result of this 7-week series.  This fun program of videos, workbook, and discussions asks parents to change themselves and then watch the changes in their children.  This program has a nominal fee for materials and the children's program.

Home Visiting Program
The Home Visitation program offers support, child development information, community resources, and referrals to pregnant and new mothers. Home visitors meet with expecting and new parents in their homes.

RELATE Project: Relationship Education Leads Adolescents Toward Empowerment
The RELATE Project is a sexual violence prevention program for middle and high school students. RELATE works to break the cycle of violence by helping adolescents recognize healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, develop assertive interpersonal communication skills, and protect themselves from peer and relationship violence. Additionally, helping these students learn healthy relationship choices prevents teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Currently, RELATE is offered in private, public, and charter middle and high schools throughout Milwaukee County.

Family Links
Family Links empowers families through a community team approach. Families with multiple challenges or who are in crisis are referred to Family Links for direct support /assistance. When a family is referred, the Family Links Coordinator is able to meet with the families in their homes, in the office, or in the community to develop an action plan based on the families' identified needs. The plan is family-focused, and family driven, and builds on the families' strengths. Participation in Family Links is voluntary, and families are able to enter or leave the program at any time. The goal of Family Links is to help families connect to community resources and to access the support and services they need to resolve issues, become self-sufficient, and safeguard the well-being of their children.
