THE PARENTING NETWORK MISSION
To strengthen parenting and prevent child abuse

Established in 1977, The Parenting Network offers a continuum of services to help parents improve their parenting. These include a 24-hour helpline, weekly peer support groups, and home visits for parents of newborns. Services are confidential and free of charge.

The Parenting Network is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. Our funding sources include United Way of Greater Milwaukee, foundations, special event fundraisers, congregations, service clubs and individual gifts. If you would like to help strengthen families and help prevent child abuse, please make a tax-deductible donation.

Staff
Staff members are chosen based on their professional skills, their ability to fulfill the mission of the agency, and to make strong connections with program participants. Staff members delivering direct service have backgrounds in Social Work or Education.

Funders
Major funders from 2007 include:

United Way of Greater Milwaukee
The CAP Fund
Elizabeth Brinn Foundation
Bucyrus Erie Foundation
Faye McBeath Foundation
Fleck Foundation
Greater Milwaukee Foundation - Children's Trust Fund, Carl and Lora Otjen Family Fund,
and Brighter Futures Milwaukee Fund

National Fatherhood Initiative
Nonprofit Management Fund
Northwestern Mutual Foundation
Rosenberg Foundation
Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault
Zilber Foundation

Volunteers
All of our volunteers are valued additions to our work. Without them, the agency could provide only half of the services available to parents. Volunteers serve in several capacities:

Circle of Parents Support Group Facilitators
MELD Program Facilitators
PARENT HELPLINE Phone Counselors
Children's Program Assistants
Office Assistants
Special Events Assistants

Most volunteers have a weekly commitment of between two and four hours. Others work with staff as needed.

Board of Directors
Board members of The Parenting Network have a commitment to the mission of the organization, devote professional and personal skills to strengthen the agency, and are actively involved with fund development, including a personal financial contribution and board projects. Board members are involved in at least one standing committee of the agency.
